Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then found many other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police report initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.
City officials announced they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the community for tips.
A high-ranking representative stated the attack rendered him stunned and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in 2020.
